I had to attend an examination at Chennai.
Distance to be traveled was around 160 kms.
There was no transport facilities since a communal struggle was going on.
I started to travel by a bicycle.
After a few kms a mob disrupted traffic.
Trees were felled down.
Somehow I managed to reach Kancheepuram. From there, I took a passenger train.
That too was not safer.
All along the way, people stoned over the compartments with uncontrollable anger.
We downed the shutters.
On reaching Chennai, I was standing alone at the (then) Broadway bus stand.
somewhere in a shop, TV news came: Normalcy Restored
